Kicking Up Search Engine Marketing Performance at Internet Retailer’s Boston

According to Ray Chang, Director of Business Development at Envisa, having a holistic SEM strategy that includes building keywords, bidding on niche terms, optimizing landing pages and localizing campaigns will help weather this economic downturn for online retailers and potentially pay dividends. These tactics and others were discussed at a Search Engine Marketing session during this year’s Internet Retailers Convention and Exhibition in Boston, MA.

With over 500 people in attendance at the session, strategies to optimize web visibility and increase website traffic were in high demand. Chang moderated this impactful session which highlighted two case studies of SEM projects for thriving internet companies -- Summit Sports and Shoppers Choice. Clearly, showing the importance of a well-planned SEO investment, Summit Sport’s VP of Operations and Director of E-Commerce, Andy Schepper and Shoppers Choice’s COO Corey Tisdale both shared their strategies and experiences to build their online presence and generate sales.

“A properly planned holistic search engine marketing program is a vital first step in enhancing visibility and generating leads for an online retailer, with almost flawless execution being critical,” said Chang. “In difficult times, one must execute with a very low margin of error and also must be poised and disciplined to learn from failed attempts.
